Facilities & Reporting Periods

Set up your reporting periods and facilities once. Every Scope 1 and Scope 2 entry below is tagged to a facility and period, so totals roll up correctly across factories and across years - and a facility added or closed mid-way is tracked with its active dates, consistent with GHG Protocol base-year recalculation guidance.

Reporting Periods

Facilities

Facilities marked inactive for a period are excluded from that period's totals automatically - use this when a site opens, closes, or is divested.

Direct Emissions

Scope 1 - Direct Emissions

Stationary combustion: CO2e = fuel quantity × emission factor. Mobile combustion: fuel-based method preferred over distance-based (lower data-quality tier). Emission factors sourced from DEFRA / EPA / IPCC defaults - replace with site-specific data where available. Every entry is tagged to a facility from your registry, for the reporting period currently selected above.

Purchased Energy

Scope 2 - Purchased Energy

Dual reporting required under the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance: Location-based uses the grid-average emission factor for the facility's region; Market-based follows the instrument hierarchy (energy attribute certificate → supplier-specific → residual mix → location-based fallback). Market-based entries should record the certificate/instrument type so the figure is defensible to an assurance provider.

Value Chain Emissions

Scope 3 - Value Chain Emissions (Categories 1–15)

Scope 3 is reported at company level by default, since most categories (purchased goods, business travel, investments) span facilities. Each category supports activity-based, spend-based, or supplier-specific calculation. Method hierarchy for data quality: supplier-specific > activity-based > spend-based.

Near-Term Targets

SBTi Near-Term Target Setting

SBTi near-term targets (5–10 years) use the Absolute Contraction Approach (ACA) - a linear annual reduction applied to the base-year total - or the Sectoral Decarbonization Approach (SDA), an intensity-based method requiring an output metric and a sector convergence benchmark. Near-term targets have different validation and offset-use rules than the long-term net-zero target modelled in the next tab - keep them visually and analytically separate.

Sectoral Decarbonization Approach (SDA / Intensity)

Base year intensity (kgCO2e/unit output) Sector benchmark at convergence (kgCO2e/unit) Convergence year
Base year Target year Projected output (units, target year)
Simplified linear convergence model - production use requires sector-specific pathway data (e.g. IEA ETP).
Long-Term Target

SBTi Net-Zero Standard - Long-Term Trajectory

Long-term target: at least 90% absolute reduction of Scope 1+2+3 vs. base year, by no later than 2050. Residual emissions remaining at the net-zero year must be matched 1:1 with permanent carbon removals with durable storage - not interim offsets or beyond-value-chain mitigation (BVCM), which do not count toward the target itself.

Export

Export & Audit Outputs

All exports draw from the same underlying data model (schema v2.0.0), so the figures in every format reconcile with each other and with what's shown on screen.
Full Inventory (JSON)
Complete structured export - all periods, facilities, line items, lineage, and disclosed assumptions. This is also your save file.
Calculation Lineage (CSV)
Every line item with activity value, emission factor, source, version, tier, and the formula applied - ready for an auditor or assurance reviewer.
Auditor Workbook (Excel)
Multi-tab workbook with summary, scope-level detail, emission factor register, and methodology notes. Planned - not yet available in this version.
Pathway Planning Export
Activity-level export structured for marginal abatement cost (MACC) and pathway modelling tools. Planned as a future companion module.
